Safeguarding
It is our fundamental belief that safeguarding in a Christian context is Gospel work - it is an expression of our love for God and each other and, in particular, of our obedience to the command to 'act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God'. As Christians, we approach safeguarding with a determination to protect people from harm - especially when they are particularly vulnerable - and with a realistic view of what even apparently 'good' people might be capable of.
The Ascension Church is therefore committed to safeguarding children, young people, and adults. We follow the Church of England guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of Chichester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information, including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA), who advises our PSOs.
